"Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he."
Proverbs 29:18

CHURCH ORIGIN

In 1922 the citizens of Firebrick, Kentucky gathered themselves together in order to create a place of worship. The land for the church was donated by George Bartee in February of 1922. After much work on the part of the citizens they had the church in which they had dreamed. Originally the church was part of the Regular Baptist Church of Christ and then entered into the Enterprise Baptist Association under the name of Firebrick Chapel. During this time Firebrick Chapel was not the only church in Firebrick. There was a Methodist church also which had its midweek service on Wednesday nights. It is said that this is the reason for Firebrick Chapel to have always had its midweek service on Thursday nights prior to 2007. On January 3, 1931 Firebrick Chapel along with Westwood Mission of Ashland, Kentucky, Mabert Road Church of Portsmouth, Ohio, and North Moreland Church of Portsmouth, Ohio banded together to forge a new church association. This union of four churches was the beginning of The Ohio Valley Association of Christian Baptist Churches of God. From that day forward Firebrick Chapel has been called Firebrick Christian Baptist Church. Since its beginning, Firebrick Christian Baptist Church has seen many changes, both inside and out. The new fellowship hall was started in 1984, the church building had its basement finished in 1997, and in 2006 the fellowship hall was extended. Also various landscaping and other cosmetic changes have taken place during the church’s operation. The Methodist church of Firebrick is also no longer in operation. But even though things change on the outside and the faces change on the inside, it can truly be said that Firebrick Christian Baptist Church has withstood the test of time and is a testament of the love of God for his people.

"But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible."
Matthew 19:26
